In September of 2011, Austin left for his mission and I was one big bowl of mush… as my dad likes to call it. If you have ever sent off a missionary, whether you're the mom, best friend, girlfriend… you know the feeling that I am talking about. It eventually fades, but not completely. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.
I remember asking advice from my friend, Ashley, how she got through it, and what distracted her etc. One thing I will never forget that she told me, "Just wait until you meet girls who have just sent their missionary off that day, or that week. They are going to come to you for advice and things you did to help you get through it." Some of the truest words I've ever heard.
Since Aust has been home, I've had 3 girls contact me for advice; two of which I don't even know. I just wanted to write a little something for you girls. They come home, and time gets better. Some days it feels like life is just lagging, and others you want to press a pause button because it seems surreal with how fast time is flying.
Heavenly Father has made this plan for you, you're strong enough to wait. Always remember that.
Here is a song that will help pull you through, grab some tissues:
and for my best friend, sister, ride or die…
He'll come home.
Love you sweet thang.
